Our Story

State of Craft is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in London/UK, Ottawa/Canada and Sydney/Australia. Founded by Daniel Goldberg, the studio’s work is at the crossroads of architecture and interiors, hospitality and residential design, furniture and branding.

For over ten years, State of Craft have created outstanding homes for discerning private clients and visionary property developers. The studio has collaborated with notable architects including Renzo Piano and David Chipperfield on some of their iconic residential developments. Recent SOC projects include Europe’s highest apartments, The Shard Residences in London, the UK’s largest contemporary country house and Australia’s most prestigious development, One Sydney Harbour.

The studio is founded on the simple belief that the spaces we inhabit have a profound impact on wellbeing and happiness. State of Craft designs spaces from the inside out - meeting the physical and emotional needs of people to create effortless, comfortable and generous interiors. The studio’s work responds to local context, climate and culture to offer a sense of meaning, connection and belonging.

Our Story

Team

Daniel Goldberg, RIBA BDA

Founder and Principal
Daniel was born in Germany, and completed his architectural degree there before moving to the UK. He spent much of his professional career in London working for leading design studios, including Foster and Partners where he worked on large cultural projects, such as the British Museum Great Court. Daniel worked subsequently for Francis Design, a leading yacht design studio, and was responsible for the exterior and interior design of some of the world’s largest private yachts.

Daniel is a licensed architect in Germany and the UK. He won the John Barrett Award and was nominated Young Engineer of the Year in 1999. His work has been published in leading design magazines including Wallpaper, Detail and Architectural Digest.
